Aonori is a type of dried green seaweed (Ulva Pertusa) that is widely used in Japanese cuisine for its delicate umami flavour and oceanic aroma.

These finely cut seaweed flakes are more delicate than nori and add depth, colour and nutrition to various dishes making them a simple yet powerful ingredient in Japanese cooking.

Sprinkle Over:

  • Takoyaki (octopus balls)
  • Okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury pancakes) or scrambled eggs
  • Noodles such as ramen or udon
  • Rice bowls, donburi, sushi and onigiri
  • Miso soup and dashi-based broths

Mix Into:

  • Tempura batter for a subtle umami boost
  • Seasoning blends like furikake (rice seasoning)
  • Japanese-style omelettes (tamagoyaki)

Refrigerate once open and consume as soon as possible. Ensure the packed is firmly closed to prevent moisture.
