A Japanese drink that combines the traditional sweet taste of amazake with the refreshing citrus notes of yuzu.
Yuzu has a distinctive flavour that’s often described as a mix between lemon, lime, and grapefruit. When blended with amazake, it adds a fresh, citrusy contrast to the rich, creamy sweetness of the rice-based drink.
Amazake is made using rice koji (rice that has been inoculated with koji mould), which naturally breaks down rice starches into sugars, giving amazake its natural sweetness without added sugar. Regularly drinking amazake is believed to improve digestion and boost energy levels due to its rich vitamin and enzyme content.
Yuzu amazake can also be used in various recipes, adding a naturally sweet, citrusy depth to desserts, salad dressings, marinades, smoothies and more.
