Red Face is a smooth, easy-drinking sake designed to highlight the natural flavours of rice with a touch of delicate fruit.
This sake offers a medium-intense aroma of fresh green apple, banana, pear and subtle notes of bread and yoghurt, all underpinned by warm rice overtones. On the palate, it starts off gently before developing into a well-rounded, medium-intense flavour.
Red Face is classified as karakuchi, meaning dry, though it’s not particularly so. A hint of sweet, steamed rice lingers, adding depth to its crisp character. The flavour profile balances creamy rice, dark sugars and yoghurt at the forefront, with apple and pear providing a subtle fruitiness in the background.
When gently warmed to 45°C, Red Face becomes even more satisfying, bringing out the rich rice flavours while allowing the fruit notes to play a supporting role.
This versatile sake pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including sushi, robata-grilled meats and vegetables, BBQ dishes, creamy sauces, grilled fish, ceviche, pickles and even richer meat dishes.
