Crafted in Gifu Prefecture, home to Japan’s centuries-old Minoyaki pottery, this plate features a delicate chrysanthemum motif, symbolising longevity and elegance in Japanese culture.
What makes this piece truly unique is the use of the Youhen technique—a specialised kiln-firing process that transforms the glaze as it reacts to heat, air, and flame. The result is a stunning array of deep blue tones, subtly shifting across the surface like ripples in water. No two plates are ever the same, as the kiln naturally determines the final colour and texture, making each one a true original.
The floral design is gently embossed into the ceramic, allowing the varying shades of blue to pool and highlight the intricate petal patterns. Both functional and decorative, this plate is ideal for serving small dishes, sushi, desserts, or even just as a statement piece in your home.
Due to the delicate nature of the glaze, we don’t recommend putting this plate in the dishwasher or microwave.
