Our Japanese wasabi is wholly sourced from Shizuoka prefecture, in particular the Amagi area. Famous for wasabi cultivation, Amagi produces excellent quality wasabi derived from ideal conditions and centuries of knowledge.

Sizes of wasabi stems are normally within the range 80g to 200g, if you have a particular size requirement, please add a note during checkout and we will do our best to fulfil this. Varieties will vary throughout the year depending on availability, this ensures we are able to maintain a reliable supply of the best quality fresh wasabi.

Fresh wasabi is classically paired with sushi and sashimi. Versatile in the extreme fresh wasabi can also flavour dressings, butters, sauces, ceviches, gravadlax, sorbets, foams and freshly grated will accompany meat or fish.

Super fresh and high quality wasabi

This was my first time buying fresh wasabi from the Wasabi Company and I could not have been more pleased with my purchase. The rhizome was super fresh and in perfect condition without spots or soft marks, grating to a perfect paste with such great flavour that is incomparable to any readymade wasabi products on the market. It was the 'cherry on the cake' for our Japanese special celebration meal. The Wasabi Company also responds swiftly to queries and as I ordered quite late in the day for my order to arrive on time they upgraded the shipment. Highly recommended!!

very happy with the Rhizome

I often order from Wasabi company wasabi rhizomes and am happy with the products. They didn't have a British one this time, therefore ordered Japanese one, and it was just as good. Fresh one tastes far better than the tube fake wasabi, and I could impress our guests serving sashimi with fresh wasabi.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know and really happy the Japanese wasabi made a great substitution for our UK one - we hope to have some more of our own available soon :)
